House fire sends 3 to hospital

Three people were taken to hospital after a fire at a house in northeast London.

The London Fire Department says crews were called to the home at 1281 Hillcrest Ave. around 3 a.m. Tuesday. According to the fire department, flames were seen on all sides of the home. Firefighters "attacked the fire from the outside before they could enter," the fire department said in a tweet.

It added more than a dozen people escaped the burning home. Three were rescued by firefighters and treated on the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

The preliminary damage estimate is $750,000. Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office have been called to assist in the search for the cause of the blaze.
