UPDATE: Crash on Highbury Ave claims life of driver

London police say a collision on Highbury Avenue on Monday afternoon claimed the life of one of the drivers.

Around 2:50 p.m. Monday, emergency crews were called to Highbury near Westminster Drive. Two vehicles had collided, leaving both drivers injured. London police said Tuesday that one of the drivers, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as Christian Kiev Campbell, of St. Thomas. The other driver, a 66-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highbury Avenue between Westminster Drive and Scotland Drive was closed to traffic for several hours.

The collision happened as snow fell on the region, leaving roads snow covered and slippery. However, it's not known yet if weather conditions played a role in the collision.

"Investigators are urging anyone who was on Highbury Avenue South at approximately 2:50 p.m., or who may have dash-cam video that could assist with the investigation, to contact the London Police Service," police said Tuesday.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
