15 London-area public school record COVID-19 cases

It's been half a week since area schools let out for the winter break, but the number of COVID-19 cases reported within the local public school board have not settled down yet.

The Thames Valley District School Board reported solo infections at 15 schools Wednesday evening including:

• Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School • Oliver Stephens Public School • Byron Somerset Public School • North Meadows Public School • Eagle Heights Public School • A.B. Lucas Secondary School • Sir Arthur Currie Public School • Hickson Central Public School • Laurie Hawkins Public School • Central Elgin Collegiate Institute • Annandale Public School • Algonquin Public School • John P. Robarts Public School • Emily Carr Public School • Lord Roberts Immersion French Public School

The school board said it has notified the school community of the positive cases once they were made aware by the health unit. Staff and students would have had in-person contact within the school setting last Friday, December 17, 2021.

Though the health units have been made aware of the cases, officials with the Middlesex London Health Unit are advising those with respiratory symptoms to treat their symptoms as if they have the virus even without being tested as the demand for PCR testing has exceeded local capacity.

More details about all TVDSB cases can be found online.
