Dream Lottery winners announced

A London man is the lucky winning ticket holder in the Dream Lottery.

Officials with the Dream Lottery, which supports local hospitals, called Jim Wood on Wednesday morning to tell him that he was the grand prize winner. Wood now has the choice of a $1.6 million custom home in Warbler Woods, a luxury home in north London, a ‘vacation for life’ package worth an estimated $1,071,490, or $1 million cash.

This edition of the Dream Lottery sold out, marking the sixth straight sell out for the lottery. The speed at which the lottery sold out led organizers to move up the draw date from January to November.

“A sixth consecutive sellout for Dream Lottery thanks to strong community support for London’s hospitals," said President and CEO of the St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation Michelle Campbell. "Our sincere thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket that will help improve care, teaching and research for thousands of patients and residents in our region.”

The winner of the 50/50 draw is Robert Mark Wilkie of Fergus. He gets half of the record $1,416,000 raised in 50/50 tickets.

The lottery has raised more than $47 million since 1996 for the London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. That money has been used to purchase specialized equipment and fund research at the three medical facilities.
