Half a dozen new COVID-19 cases reported at London-area schools

Officials with the local public school board reported six new COVID-19 cases at five London-area schools on Tuesday.

The Thames Valley District School Board said the confirmed or probable cases are linked to Ashley Oaks Public School, where two cases are said to have been detected, J.P. Robarts Public School, Oakridge Secondary School, Westfield Public School in Tillsonburg and Wilberforce Public School in Lucan.

Only families or staff who received a letter from the TVDSB that states they have been identified as a close contact of an affected individual will be advised to stay home from school and isolate for a period of 10 days.

"Health units investigate cases to identify close contacts and follow up directly to provide specific testing advice," the school board said in a release.

As of Tuesday evening, there are 53 active COVID-19 cases at schools within the Thames Valley school district.

A summary of all active cases can be found on the school board's website.
