Vehicle in fatal hit-and-run has front-end damage: OPP

Provincial police have determined the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run death of a cyclist near Strathroy has damage to its front-end.

According to investigators, the damage will be to the front passenger side corner and headlight assembly of the vehicle.

The 45-year-old cyclist was riding west on Calvert Drive in Adelaide-Metcalfe when he was hit by a vehicle heading the same direction on Monday night. The cyclist, whose name has not been released, was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle took off after the collision. Middlesex OPP are urging that individual to come forward.

Investigators are asking anyone who was travelling on Calvert Drive and saw anything suspicious between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Monday to call them. Area residents are asked to check their security surveillance cameras to see if the recordings captured the vehicle or the cyclist.

Police expect more information about their investigation will be released on Thursday.
