Charges laid after man stabbed with scissors

A 26-year-old London man is facing more than a dozen charges after a woman was threatened, a man was stabbed, and a paramedic was assaulted.

The bizarre incident began on Sunday afternoon when a woman was assaulted and threatened by a male acquaintance. The man damaged property inside of a home before chasing the woman with scissors. The man is then alleged to have got into a fight with another man outside of the home, stabbing that individual with the scissors, before taking off.

Police were called and found a suspect on Epworth Avenue. The man ran from officers, but they were able to catch up with him on University Avenue. The man was said to have become "combative" with officers during the arrest and bit and hit a paramedic.

"All three victims suffered minor injuries," police said.

Shimeon Jade Philip, 26, of London is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Monday.
