Fire destroys Aylmer home

A fire that destroyed a home in Aylmer on Sunday is not considered to be suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the residence on Beech Street near John Street North after a passerby spotted the flames around 2:50 a.m.

The residents of the home were not there when the fire broke out and no one was hurt, Aylmer police said on Monday.

While the cause of the fire is under investigation, police and fire officials do not believe it was intentionally set.

A damage estimate has not been released, but police describe it as a "total loss."
