One dead, another seriously hurt in two-vehicle crash in south London

One person is dead and another is fighting for life after a serious crash in south London Wednesday afternoon.

At around 1:22 p.m., emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle crash on Wonderland Road South and Glanworth Drive. Paramedics arrived and took three people to hospital.

One of the vehicles involved caught fire and thick, black smoke could be seen coming from the car. Fire crews were on scene to put the fire in the burning vehicle out.

Police have since confirmed an 85-year-old man has died from the crash, an elderly female remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries. The name of the man who died will not be released at the request of his family.

The third driver, an adult male, has been released from hospital.

Wonderland at Glanworth was closed for several hours while members of the London police Traffic Management Unit assessed the scene.

Police are thanking the citizens who stopped to help the individuals involved in the crash.
