London's Damian Warner to carry Canadian flag for closing ceremony

Olympic gold medalist and record-holder Damian Warner has been selected to bear the Canadian flag during the closing ceremony for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The London native secured a gold medal Thursday morning in the Olympic decathlon. During the competition, Warner also broke a prestigious Olympic record after he finished with 9,018 points across all 10 decathlon events. Only three other decathletes have surpasses the 9,000 point mark.

Canada has secured a total of 24 medals in Tokyo. That's seven gold, six silver, and 11 bronze.

Other Londoners who helped to represent the nation by bringing home gold medals include Maggie Mac Neil, who took gold in the women's 100-metre butterfly and Susanne Grainger of the women's eight rowing team.

Those hoping to catch Warner leading Team Canada will be able to tune in Sunday morning at 7 a.m. eastern time.
