One dead after vehicle collides with tree, bursts into flames

A fiery single-vehicle crash southwest of Tillsonburg has claimed the life of one person.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on St. John's Road West between Charoletteville West Quarter Line and Turkey Point Road just after 3 a.m. on Thursday.

A vehicle had veered off the road and into the ditch where it hit several trees before bursting into flames, Norfolk OPP said.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased is not being released until family are notified.

St. John's Road West is expected to be closed for the rest of the morning Thursday. Police are asking drivers not to drive around the road closure signs and to avoid the area altogether.
