A crash that claimed the life of a father of four from Aylmer in south London last week is now alleged to have been the result of impaired driving.
Emergency crews were called after two vehicles collided on Colonel Talbot Road south of Highway 401 around 7 a.m. last Thursday. One of the drivers, Jake Epp, 26, of Aylmer, suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died.
The other driver, 37-year-old Mohamad Abdullatif of Mount Brydges, was treated for minor injuries.
Police announced charges against Abdullatif on Tuesday. They include one count each of impaired operation of a vehicle causing death, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, and driving a vehicle without a licence.
Abdullatif appeared in court in relation to the charges on Monday.
An online fundraiser for Epp, who leaves behind four daughters all under the age of ten, has raised more than $80,000.
