London man charged after replica gun pointed at vehicles

A London man is accused of pointing what turned out to be a replica gun at passing vehicles in the east-end over the weekend.

It was around 7 a.m. Sunday when 911 calls began coming in about a man with a firearm in the area of Hamilton Road and Egerton Street. Callers told police the individual was pointing the weapon at vehicles as they drove down the street.

Officers searched the area and arrested a suspect near Rectory and Walker streets.

A replica firearm was seized.

A 41-year-old London man has since been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 28.
