SIU investigating after 401 crash sends three to hospital

A crash on the 401 has sent three people to hospital, and the province's Special Investigation Unit is now working on the case.

Oxford OPP say a single vehicle went off the highway and struck a telephone pole around 4:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Two people were ejected from the vehicle at the time of the crash. One person suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by ORNGE air ambulance.

Police say the driver of the vehicle ran from the scene, only to be arrested a short time later.

A 32-year-old man London faces seven charges, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, driving while suspended, using an altered licence plate, and failing to comply with a probation order.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
