New survey asks students to share their online learning experiences

A new voluntary survey is asking students in the Thames Valley District school board (TVDSB) about their time learning remotely since COVID-19 pushed classes online.

The questionnaire from the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association is being distributed by the Thames Valley board to students in Grade 5 to 12. It asks students about their experiences in online learning before and after the pandemic, including what types of activities they participated in, how well remote learning worked for them, and what could be improved.

The online survey takes about ten minutes to complete and all answers shared will be completely anonymous.

The results of the surveys will be used by the association in its work with local school boards, the Ministry of Education, and other education partners in shaping a return to school plan for when the pandemic is over.

The board warns some of the questions may make students feel slightly uncomfortable. Anyone who feels upset during or after completing the survey can contact TVDSB Cares by phone at 1-866-933-2023 or online at reachout247.ca.
