Section of Wortley Road closed until fall

Residents in Wortley Village will be navigating around construction for the next six months.

As of Monday, Wortley Road between Briscoe Street East and Devonshire Avenue will be closed to complete upgrades to underground water and sewer infrastructure. The work has been identified as one of London's top ten construction projects of the year under the city's renew London construction program.

The work was deemed necessary as the current infrastructure has reached the end of its lifecycle and is made of outdated materials.

In addition to the water and sewer upgrades, sidewalks, road surface, curbs, and gutters in the area will also be reconstructed.

Drivers will have to detour around the construction which isn't expected to be completed until the end of October.

Pedestrian access will be maintained to all homes and businesses in the area.
