The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) wants families to decide if their children will return to in-person learning this fall.
In a release issued by the school board, parents and guardians will have until May 13 to declare whether their kids attend classes or continue with full-time remote learning starting in September.
"We realize that making the decision now may be challenging for some families," said Director of Education Mark Fisher. "The choice that families make for each child will be a commitment for the full year."
Fisher says the movement between the two learning models can cause disruptions to many students.
"While we believe that in-person learning best supports students, we also recognize that given unique circumstances, some families may want their child to learn remotely."
The TVDSB says it looks forward to welcoming students back to in-person learning and will continue to follow current health and safety practices.
Parents will begin receiving emails this week with a file called "Getting Ready for September 2021."
The document will outline the key differences between each learning model to support families in making an informed decision.
Families are encouraged to read the document carefully and if necessary, contact their child's school for additional information.
