Man charged with assaulting police officer

A London man has been charged after two police officers investigating a trespassing complaint in the downtown were punched and kicked at.

London police were called about a possible trespasser at the Covent Garden Market around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Officers with the foot patrol unit arrived and asked a man to leave the property.

The man then tried twice to punch one of the officers and kicked at the other. Neither officer was injured.

A 49-year-old London man is charged with one count of assaulting police and one count of resisting arrest.
