London firefighters rescued a man who had fallen down a ravine in the southwest-end Sunday night.
The man tumbled about 20 feet down the steep ravine behind a pair of highrise apartment buildings at 165 Emery St. West, north of Baseline Road just before 7:45 p.m.
Emergency crews arrived on scene and quickly devised a plan to rappel down into the ravine to reach the man.
"We have systems in place where we can send a rescuer down to assess the patient's condition, stabilize the patient, then other technical rescue technicians will establish the roping systems that will ultimately bring the rescuer and the patient up the ravine safely," said London Fire Department Platoon Chief Gary Mosbuger.
Once the man was brought back up to the top of the ravine, he was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital
The man's injuries were not life threatening, added Mosbuger.
