London police say a man faces charges after he was arrested within one hour of being released for a similar crime.
Shortly before midnight on Monday, officers were dispatched to an underground parking garage on Adelaide Street North near King Street for vehicle break-ins. Security detained the suspect until police arrived and arrested the man.
One vehicle is said to have sustained minor damage, and a search of the man yielded stolen property. The 38-year-old male of London was charged with one count of theft and one count of mischief both under $5,000. He was taken to police headquarters and released the next day.
Shortly after the man's release on Tuesday, police were called to the same underground lot after staff say the same man was seen entering another car. Officers say the vehicle, a 2000 Dodge Neon was reported stolen.
Once confronted, the man fled from the parking lot towards King Street. He was located a brief time after and arrested again. Security footage obtained from the parking facility showed the man had been driving the stolen vehicle.
Following the second investigation, the man was charged with failing to comply with a release order and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
