Flamethrower, cocaine seized in raids

Two people are facing charges after London police say officers seized a flamethrower, other weapons, and cocaine in a pair of raids.

Officers with the London Police Service Street Gang Unit, with the help of the Emergency Response Unit, searched addresses on Fieldgate Circle and Marconi Gate on March 5. They seized a flamethrower, a .22 calibre rifle, a prohibited knife, two expandable batons, a bullet proof vest, 910 grams of cocaine, seven kilograms of Phenacetin, a cocaine press, assorted jewellery, a money counter, two cellular phones, and about $10,000 in cash.

Police estimate the value of the cocaine at $109,200.

A 31-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both of London, are each charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both are to appear in court May 28.
