Londoners urged to steer clear of bodies of water with rain on the way

The City of London is asking people to steer clear of any bodies of water due to unstable and weakened ice conditions.

Warmer temperatures and rain are expected over the weekend. In response, the City of London is asking residents to avoid and stay off of all bodies of water, including stormwater management ponds.

The London area is expected to see positive temperatures throughout the weekend, and approximately 5-10 millimetres of rain making any ice cover weak and unstable. Banks next to rivers and creeks are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.

They city added children and pets should be kept away from all watercourses and off of frozen water bodies.
