Charges have been laid after a robbery at an east London grocery store ended with one employee threatened with a knife and another hit with a brick.
London police were called to the No Frills at 1925 Dundas Street near Clarke Road around 11 a.m. on Saturday after a man was seen putting items under his clothes before trying to leave the store without paying. A female employee tried to stop the man, who allegedly pulled out a utility knife and pointed it at her.
When another store employee began following the man out of the store, he was said to have pointed the knife a second time before pulling a brick from his pocket and hitting the worker. The man then took off with the stolen items, police said.
The employee suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
Police got a description of the man and made an arrest in the area of York and Adelaide streets about half an hour later.
A 25-year-old London man is charged with two counts of armed robbery. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Monday.
