Two charged following convenience store robbery

London police say two men face charges after a convenience store was robbed early Wednesday morning.

According to police, two men entered the store at 265 Oxford Street East at around 12:30 a.m. and one of the men told the clerk that he had a knife. The two suspects allegedly proceeded to take items and conceal them in bags before fleeing the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

After reviewing the store's surveillance footage, officers searched the area and at approximately 1:15 a.m., two suspects were located and arrested on King Street.

Police say the stolen items were recovered, along with credit cards reported stolen to police February 5.

Bryson Matthew Smith, 25, and Corey Kirk Clayton-Duizendstraal, 26, both of London, were each charged with one count of robbery with violence or threats.

Smith was also charged with failing to comply with release order and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Both of the accused were scheduled to appear in London court Wednesday.
