Provincial police are investigating two separate tractor trailer rollovers Tuesday, including one that temporarily forced the shutdown of a section of Highway 401 in the London area.
Emergency crews were called to the westbound lanes of the highway east of Highbury Avenue just after 7:30 a.m. for the overturned big rig. OPP determined the truck hit the concrete median which caused it to flip onto its side and spill a load of gravel across the highway. One of the truck's tires flew off in the collision and ended up hitting an eastbound vehicle.
No serious injuries have been reported.
OPP closed the westbound lanes at Veterans Memorial Parkway for a short time before opening a single lane. All lanes were re-opened just before 10:30 a.m.
West of that collision in the eastbound lanes of Highway 402 at Kerwood Road, another transport truck overturned Tuesday morning. The tractor trailer lost control and ended up on its side in the grass median. The left lane of the highway is closed while crews work to remove the transport.
At the time of both crashes, the highway was partly snow covered and icy from a blast of snow that fell overnight.
