Alcohol a factor in crash that saw truck hit pole, house

Impaired driving charges have been laid after a vehicle hit two poles and then a building northwest of London over the weekend.

Middlesex OPP were called about the collision on Denfield Road north of Twelve Mile Road shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday. A pickup truck hit two hydro poles before crashing into a vacant house.

The driver of the truck took off on foot before officers arrived on scene, police said.

The OPP canine unit was brought in and arrested a suspect without incident.

A 24-year-old Goderich resident is charged with impaired driving, operation of a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, and failure to stop after a collision.

The accused is to appear in court in relation to the charges on March 1.
