A rifle shot was fired inside of a west London LCBO Tuesday as a would-be thief struggled to bust into a glass case.
It was around 8:45 p.m. when a man with a rifle hidden under his jacket walked into the liquor store at 681 Wonderland Rd. North. The man pulled the firearm out and attempted to break the display case filled with bottles of alcohol, London police said.
The rifle went off in the process and the man ran empty handed from the store to a waiting vehicle.
There were several customers inside the store at the time. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Police found the suspected getaway vehicle in the area of Oxford Street and Beaverbrook Avenue. Two men were arrested without incident.
Two loaded firearms were seized, including one that had been reported stolen last March.
A 35-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, both from London, are charged with seven offences including armed robbery, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm, and possession a firearm obtained by crime.
The 35-year-old is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited and breaching probation.
An additional charge of possession of a firearm while prohibited was also laid against the 38-year-old.
