St. Thomas police seize crossbow, $172K in fentanyl, cocaine

Charges have been laid against two people after a months-long investigation by St. Thomas police turned up $172,000 worth of fentanyl and cocaine and several weapons.

Acting on investigative work that began in the fall, St. Thomas police stopped a vehicle on Wellington Street Thursday morning. Inside police found 200 grams of cocaine, 120 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 28 grams of heroin. The drugs seized were valued at $59,000.

A man and a woman were arrested.

Officers went on to search the couple's home. An additional 240 grams of cocaine and 154 grams of fentanyl worth a combined $113 000 was seized, along with two long guns and a crossbow.

A 32-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, possessing a firearm while prohibited, and six counts of breaching release conditions.

A 26-year-old St. Thomas woman is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of careless storage of a firearm.
