For the third time this week, the London area has set a record for new COVID-19 cases.
The Middlesex London Health Unit reported 67 new cases on Friday, a new high. That brings the total number of cases since March to 2,322. Of those 1,875 are considered resolved.
There were no deaths reported Friday, so the London-Middlesex death toll remains at 82.
Outbreaks are still in effect at Chelsey Park, Country Terrace, McCormick Home, and Dearness Home.
There are also outbreaks on five units at University Hospital and two units at Victoria Hospital. The outbreak on the 10th Floor Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at University Hospital was declared over on Friday.
The London Health Sciences Centre says there has been one death connected to the outbreak at Victoria Hospital, while the death toll from the University Hospital outbreaks remains at 17. The outbreaks at University Hospital have led to the infections of 76 patients and 77 staff, while the outbreaks at Victoria Hospital has seen fewer than five patients and fewer than five staff members infected.
Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Elgin and Oxford counties, reported 30 new cases Friday for a total of 863 since March. No deaths were reported, so the death toll is still 11.
Public Health Ontario reported more than 2,000 new cases for the fourth day in a row. Officials reported 2,290 new cases and 40 deaths on Friday. A record number of tests, more than 68,000, were processed. But there is a backlog of over 81,000 tests that still need results.
There are 877 people in Ontario hospitals being treated for COVID-19. Of those, 261 are in intensive care and 168 are on ventilators.
