Londoners can voice concerns on city's proposed budget by phone

For those who want to participate in London's budget process but are concerned about physically going to city hall during the pandemic, there is a new dial-in option.

The city is allowing Londoners to weigh in Monday at its 2021 multi-year budget annual update public participation meeting by calling 519-930-3502. This is the first time ever the city has offered a phone-in option for public feedback on the fiscal blueprint.

Those calling in to comment will be placed into queue to provide feedback to the strategic priorities and policy committee.

"This phone number has been made available as a result of the Middlesex-London area being moved into Orange/Restrict level in accordance with Public Health measures," the city said in a statement. "The phone option provides an additional means for residents to participate and provide comment as part of the public participation meeting."

Comments can also be submitted in writing by emailing sppc@london.ca

For anyone who would prefer to attend the meeting in person, the city is reassuring all health precautions are in place. Those include screening upon entry at city hall, providing contact information, physical distancing, and the availability of hand sanitizer.

The budget meeting gets underway at 4 p.m.
