Two people are facing charges after provincial police accused them of plotting to use a drone to drop drugs into the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre.
According to the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, officers had been investigating drug smuggling at the south London jail. On Sunday, December 7 around 8 a.m., the OPP and members of the London Police Service Guns and Drugs Section, arrested two suspects on Meg Drive. Police said they had a remote-controlled drone and a large quantity of drugs including fentanyl, crack cocaine, Adderall, amphetamines, crystal methamphetamine, and cannabis.
Two Londoners, a 28-year-old and an 18-year-old, are facing drug possession and trafficking charges.
They were to appear in court Monday.
