The London area's unemployment rate fell in November by half of a percentage point, according to figures released Friday by Statistics Canada.
The jobless rate for the London Census Metropolitan Area, which includes St. Thomas, Strathroy, and other surrounding communities, was 8.4 per cent in November. It was 8.9 per cent in October.
According to Statistics Canada, fewer people were actively looking for work last month, which was reflected in a drop in the participation rate fell from 61.6 per cent in October to 61.4 per cent in November. The employment rate, which measures the percentage of the population aged 15 and over, increased to 56.3 per cent last month from October's 56.1 per cent.
