A London man who admitted to killing and dismembering a 26-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison.
Oluwatobi Boyede will be ineligible to apply for parole for 14 years. He pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of Sarnia-native Josie Glenn in February.
Glenn's remains were found in Oluwatobi's house in the Summerside subdivision in southeast London in October of 2017, four days after she was reported missing. During the hearing at which he pleaded guilty, the court was told Glenn was working at an erotic massage parlour when Oluwatobi texted her, asking her to come to his home. After some reluctance, she agreed and Oluwatobi called a cab to bring her to his home. It was that cab ride that provided police with evidence leading to Oluwatobi's arrest.
His lawyer, Keli Mersereau, said Thursday that the 14-year parole ineligibility is fair, given the nature of the crime.
"I thought the time might be 13 years. I thought that would have been a really good decision and I would have been extremely pleased with that," she said. "Having said that, I'm not unhappy with the 14 years. I think that is very fair in the circumstances, particularly given the nature of the aggravating factors."
Oluwatobi is already serving a sentence of seven years in prison for the sexual assault and forcible confinement of a woman in the sex trade.
