One pedestrian killed, another seriously hurt in two separate collisions

Two separate collisions involving pedestrians in London have left one person dead and another fighting for life.

The first incident happened in the area of Horton Street East and Wellington Street around 5:45 p.m. on Monday where a male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital where he remained in critical but stable condition early Tuesday morning.

Roughly half an hour after that incident, police were called to another collision involving a pedestrian. A man had been walking along Hamilton Road near Rectory Street when he was struck by a vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead in hospital, London police said.

A section of Hamilton Road was closed for approximately four hours due to the collision.

The London police traffic management unit continues to investigate and is asking anyone who may have witnessed either collision to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
