A London man is facing several charges after allegedly assaulting a paramedic and police officer on Friday in St. Thomas.
According to St. Thomas police, paramedics were called to a residence on Friday to assess a 20-year-old man. During that time, the patient allegedly punched and kicked one of the paramedics.
Police were called for assistance and arrived at the scene shortly after. When the first officer arrived, the man was told he was under arrest and allegedly immediately began charging at and repeatedly trying to punch the officer in the face.
The officer deployed a taser, which was successful in apprehending the suspect. Once the accused was handcuffed he then spat on one of the officers.
The paramedic, suspect and police officer all sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.
As a result, the 20-year-old London man is charged with one count each of resisting arrest and assault as well as two counts of assaulting police.
