Sleeping driver busted twice in two days

A London man faces a list of charges after police say he was found asleep at the wheel on consecutive days.

London police said they were called around 8:20 a.m. Saturday about a man who had fallen asleep at the wheel of a vehicle in the area of Dufferin Avenue and Maitland Street. When police arrived, they woke the man up and a search revealed 18.9 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 145 grams of marijuana, and small amounts of crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone, Clonazepam, Piroxicam, Dilaudid pills, and cannabis oil. Officers also seized brass knuckles, a hatchet, electronic scales, cellular phones, and just over $5,000 in cash.

The man was arrested and later released from custody.

On Sunday night around 11:45, police were called again about a sleeping driver, this time in a parking lot on York Street near Adelaide Street. The man was arrested and police seized 27.2 grams of suspected Fentanyl, a cellular phone, and $1,100 in cash.

A 36-year-old London man is charged with two counts of impaired driving, as well as weapons and drug offences.
