Two London schools are reporting their second cases of COVID-19 in less than a week.
The Thames Valley District School Board announced on Thursday that the Middlesex London Health Unit had identified positive cases of the virus at Westminster Secondary School and Eagle Heights Public School. The health unit has also reported that a presumptive case at Straffordville Public School in Elgin County has been confirmed as positive.
Cases of the virus were also reported at Westminster on November 7 and at Eagle Heights on Tuesday, however, the Thames Valley board said there has been no evidence of school transmission.
The school board said it has informed all staff, parents, and guardians within all school communities of the recent COVID-19 cases. The local health unit is also working to identify anyone who has come into close contact with the infected individuals.
“If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk. The health unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact, and will advise them to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days,” the Thames Valley board said in a news release.
The schools will remain open and school buses will continue to operate.
There are currently 13 active COVID-19 cases in school communities within the Thames Valley district. Three of those cases and the aforementioned presumptive case were detected at Thames Valley schools on Tuesday.
