St. Thomas apartment fire sparks $450K in damages

No injuries were reported following a structure fire in St. Thomas on Sunday morning, however, a few people have been displaced as a result of the blaze.

St. Thomas Police and Fire crews were called about a blaze at 68 Hincks Street around 8:09 a.m. on Sunday.

Fire Chief Warren Scott said the fire spread quickly to the four apartment units and it took a couple of hours for the blaze to be fully extinguished.

He said approximately five people have been displaced.

The fire caused approximately $450,000 worth of damages.

Scott said a cause has yet to be determined as the investigation is ongoing.

The area of Hincks Street and Wellington Street was closed for several hours but reopened Sunday afternoon.
