London police are looking for a suspect after a man trying to sell a cell phone was robbed at gunpoint by a potential buyer.
The man had posted an ad for the phone on the buy-and-sell website Kijiji and was contacted by a prospective buyer. The two agreed to meet at a school on Victoria Drive on Wednesday.
The potential buyer arrived on foot and got into the passenger side of the seller's vehicle. It was at this point that he pulled a gun on the man selling the phone and demanded cash and property.
The man then ran from the area.
The victim was not physically hurt.
Police were called but were unable to locate a suspect during a search of the area.
The suspect is described as a man, Black, approximately 6’0”, between the ages of 25-30, with a thin build. He was wearing a pink sweatshirt and pink pants, which were described as looking like pyjamas.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The robbery has promoted police to issue a reminder to anyone meeting up with strangers to buy or sell items to always meet in a public place with lots of people around.
