Lambeth gun call leads police to teen with knife

A Lambeth Christian school was temporarily locked down Thursday morning after someone spotted a teenager in the vicinity with what appeared to be a handgun.

London police were called to the area of Howard and Dennis avenues around 8:40 a.m. about the possible weapon. The nearby school was notified as a precaution and students were brought inside while police investigated.

Within minutes, officers found a teenage boy who matched the description they were provided. The 15-year-old told police he was wearing a pocket knife on his shorts.

He did not have a gun, police said.

The knife was seized and the teen was returned to his parents.

"There were no threats made, and no risk to public safety as the boy did not speak to anyone," police said.

No criminal charges were laid in relation to the incident.
