Teens charged in knife-point robbery

Two teens are facing charges after a man was robbed of his bus tickets.

According to London police, a 19-year-old man was walking along Nelson Street near Adelaide Street around 4 p.m. Sunday when three male youths approached and asked for money. One of the youths pulled a knife and demanded the victim's wallet.

There was no money in the wallet, but the teens took some bus tickets and ran. The victim wasn't hurt.

Descriptions of the teens were given to police and officers began searching the area. They saw some young people who fit the description in the area of Wellington Road near the Thames River. When the youths saw the officers, they ran west along the bike path.

Police arrested three suspects not long after.

A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old are charged with robbery under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The third teen is not facing charges.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
