UPDATE: Dog that bit Ingersoll girl found

Public health officials say that they've been able to track down the owner of a dog that bit a 12-year-old girl in Ingersoll.

The girl was walking on Thames Street near the Tim Hortons around 1 p.m. on Wednesday when she was bitten by a medium-sized, tan coloured dog. The extent of her injuries was not released.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Oxford and Elgin counties, took to social media Friday for help finding the owner and to assess the dog for risk of exposure to the rabies virus.

By late Friday evening, the health agency took to Twitter to announce that the dog had been found.
