Bridge work slows Highbury traffic to 30 km/h

Drivers whose commute takes them along Highbury Avenue in southeast London are in for a slower, bumpier rider for the rest of the week.

The speed limit has been temporarily dropped on Highbury between Commissioners and Hamilton roads for bridge work. According to the City of London, the speed limit will go from 60 km/h down to 30 km/h and speed bumps and signage have been installed to slow traffic.

The speed reduction is in place while construction workers complete concrete work as part of the Wenige Bridge Expressway Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Drivers are encouraged to find an alternative route to avoid the bridge entirely.

The reduced speed limit and other traffic calming measures will be in place until Monday.
