Two Londoners win Dream Lottery prizes

Two London residents have had their dreams come true after winning prizes in the region's signature charity lottery.

The top two winners of the spring edition of the Dream Lottery were revealed on Thursday after their winning lottery numbers were drawn the previous day.

Ken McCann of London purchased the grand prize-winning ticket. McCann will now have the choice of the Grand Oak Dream Home in London valued at more than $1.6 million or the Kokomo Beach Club Dream Home in Port Stanley, along with $500,000 cash, for a total prize value of almost $1.1 million. If he decides to opt-out of the two prize homes, McCann can take home $1 million in cash.

Londoner Carol Smyrnios was the winner of the 50/50 draw and will receive half of the record $1,260,165 prize pool.

All other Dream Lottery and 50/50 prize results will be posted on the lottery’s website by August 20. As well, Calendar Draw prizes will be announced daily in October, November and December.

Unlike in previous years, the Dream Lottery homes were not open to the public for viewings prior to the draw. The elimination of in-person tours was made out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, those interested in touring the homes were able to do so online.

The Dream Lottery is a semi-annual sweepstakes that has raised almost $42 million since 1996 in support of the London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London.
