Shooting suspect arrested trying to cross border

A man wanted in connection with the shooting of two men in Strathroy has been arrested after trying to cross the border into the United States.

The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service said Alexandre Allie, 25, of Strathroy-Caradoc was arrested without incident on Wednesday at around 5:55 p.m., after he tried to cross the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie into Buffalo, New York. A female who was in Allie's vehicle at the time of his arrest was also taken into custody.

Border police also seized a .22 calibre revolver and a quantity of drugs following a search of the vehicle.

A warrant was issued for Allie's arrest on Tuesday in connection with the shooting of two men, aged 24 and 30, in an alley off of Frank Street on Sunday.  Allie was wanted for 19 charges including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and failure to comply with release order.

The two shooting victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were dropped off at a local hospital before being transferred to London hospital for treatment. Both men have since been released.

Allie will be held by the Niagara Regional Police Service pending the outcome of a bail hearing on Thursday. He will then be transferred to the custody of investigators from the Strathroy Caradoc Police Service and will appear in London court for another bail hearing on Friday.
