Two Woodstock police officers were assaulted while trying to make two separate arrests earlier this week.
In the first incident, police had been called about a man exposing himself and urinating in public in the area of Park Row and Mill Street on Monday. When officers arrived on scene and tried to arrest the man he became verbally and physically aggressive. The man ended up punching an officer in the head before he was taken into custody.

A day later a second officer was hurt when an unrelated routine traffic stop turned violent. The officer pulled over a vehicle for an expired validation sticker in the area of Dundas Street and Country Road 11 around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. The driver got out of the vehicle and began aggressively arguing with the officer. The man then got back in his vehicle and took off, narrowly avoiding a collision with a passing vehicle.
Soon after the man's vehicle was located at a nearby business. The officer blocked it in and was again approached by the man who became aggressive and allegedly tried to put the officer in a headlock. The officer gained physical control of the man until other officers arrived on scene and the man was arrested.
The officer suffered scratches to his neck during the struggle.
