Police have issued an arrest warrant in connection with a London home invasion that led to the shooting death of a man accused of decades-old war crimes in Liberia.
On Thursday, London police issued a warrant for 22-year-old Keiron Gregory of North York who is facing a charge of second degree murder in connection with the death of 44-year-old Toronto resident Bill Horace.
Horace was killed on June 21 after four men went to a home at 232 Pochard Lane around 4:40 a.m. and forced their way inside. There was an altercation that ended when one of the men shot Horace. The men then took off and a 911 call was made. Emergency crews rushed Horace to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gregory's whereabouts are currently unknown, but police said it is believed he may be in the Greater Toronto Area. Police added that a firearm has not been recovered and Gregory may be armed. The other three suspects also remain at large, police said. Anyone who sees this man is advised to not approach him and call 911 immediately.
London police confirmed earlier this week that the shooting victim, Horace, is the same man who was a member of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), a rebel group that was active during the First Liberian Civil War between 1989 to 1996. Horace also acknowledged his ties to NPFL during an interview with Maclean’s back in 2009.
Horace and the men under his command were accused of “horrendous atrocities” during their time with NPFL. However, despite also being under investigation in Canada, none of the allegations against Horace have been proven in court.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
