City to resume some in-person services

As the economy slowly begins to reopen across Ontario, the City of London is set to resume a handful of in-person services.

Access to the select in-person and by appointment services at City Hall and 206 Dundas St. will begin on June 15.

In order to protect both staff and city residents during these visits, plexiglass screens have been installed at customer service counters and floor markings have been put in place to ensure physical distancing. The bulk of the in-person interactions will be done on the first floor, with access to 300 Dufferin Ave. limited to the first three floors, city officials said. Modifications are also being planned for public participation meetings.

In-person services slated to resume next week at City Hall:

• Marriage licences
• Civil Ceremonies (with limits to the participants and two witnesses)
• Commissioning documents
• Burial permits
• MFIPPA requests
• Tree removal permits (by phone or by email only, with payments by phone or in person at City Hall)
• Building permit, development and licensing application inquiries. Applications to be submitted through online services)
• In-person tax payments
• In-person payment of invoices

In-person service to resume June 15 - by appointment - at 206 Dundas Place:

• Heritage alteration permits
• In-person pre-application consultation meetings
• In-person application review meetings
• In-person engineering review meetings

Select public participation meetings, committee of adjustment meetings, and public hearings will also resume next week, but with modifications and more reliance on technology to limit person-to-person contact.
