Five Londoners are facing charges after a raid on a home in north London turned up guns and about $20,000 worth of stolen tools and equipment.
Police executed a search warrant at a home on Pinehurst Place on Thursday, May 28 after an investigation that began after storage containers on properties in south London had their locks cut off in late March and thieves made off with tools and other pieces of construction equipment. In April, the owner of the stolen property saw some of it advertised for sale on an online buy and sell app.
According to police, two trucks owned by an excavating company were broken into between April 19 and May 12. About $6,000 work of equipment was taken. Again, some of the items were later found listed for sale online.
Last Thursday, police raided the home on Pinehurst Place and, during the raid, a duffle bag was thrown from the home to the backyard. Police say the bag contained a loaded 9mm handgun. A second 9mm handgun was found in the trunk of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.
“This residence is located in a relatively quiet suburban area and thankfully we were able to seize these loaded firearms without incident,” said Detective-Sergeant Ryan Scrivens.
Five people face several charges including possession of stolen property, possession of a restricted firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.
