Crash severs vehicle in two, seriously injuring three men

A major crash in north London that severed one vehicle in two has seriously injured one man and has left two others fighting for their lives.

The London Police Service said on Tuesday at around 3:15 p.m., a vehicle was travelling west on Fanshawe Park Road West when it struck another vehicle that was turning onto Hyde Park Road.  The force of the impact split one of the vehicles in half.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was rushed to hospital in serious condition with significant injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 54-year-old man, and his passenger, a 42-year-old man, both suffered serious life-threatening injuries. The pair remain in hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police said, based on witness statements, speed was likely a factor in the crash. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that there was a third vehicle involved in the incident that was not damaged and did not remain at the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has not spoken to police is asked to contact officers with the London Police Service at 519-661-5670.

Police said the investigation is in its early stages and it is unknown if any charges will be laid.

Fanshawe Park Road West at Hyde Park Road remained closed for roughly 12 hours. It was reopened just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
